Renovate or detonate
Renovate my kitchen
You can use and modernise existing materials to reduce overall cost of the kitchen. Adding a coat of paint to your existing cabinets will give you kitchen a fresh new look.
You get to leave in character building elements such as antique drawer handles, retro tile splash backs and wooden cupboard doors. These are all features that you would spend additional funds on if you had to add them to your new kitchen.
You can choose to do some of the work yourself to save money, such as painting, tiling, and replacing the flooring.
You can spend more of your budget on appliances rather than the build and add in that industrial oven or the two dishwashers you have always wanted.
Detonate my kitchen
There are no hidden compromises because you are starting with a fresh canvas. You won't be stuck with a design feature you don't really like as you can remove it in the planning stage.
You won't find unexpected repairs hiding behind walls or under the sink. There is no risk of old faulty wiring or plumbing needing to be replaced.
The majority of your kitchen budget will be spent on new creations and not the removal and repair of existing kitchen components.
