How do i makeover my kitchen?
KICH has a team of kitchen designers who can design your kitchen makeover for free, showing you how to reuse and recycle main elements from your existing kitchen to complete the kitchen makeover you dreamed of.
5 WAYS TO REVITALISE YOUR KITCHEN
1 PAINT IT
If your existing cabinetry is in exceptional condition you may not want to part with it. So why not paint it? Paint can be fairly inexpensive and if you are handy at home you can save even more by doing it yourself. Giving your kitchen a makeover can be as simple as painting your dark cupboards white or changing the paint on your kitchen walls. You may even choose to paint your dated bench top with a high pressure spray paint.
Don't be afraid to use bold colours to modernise the look of your existing kitchen. Rich wall colours contrasted with bright whites can also update your kitchen's appearance.
2 ADD A new BENCH TOP
Bench tops are one of the main features for any kitchen so when performing a kitchen makeover it is imperative to get it right.
If you switch out your old bench tops for something more striking you will improve the look of your kitchen. Upgrading to granite or stainless steel or using recycled timber will definitely improve the look of your kitchen. Don't forget to be creative with your splash-backs as this can set the tone for your new kitchen.
3 BRIGHTEN THINGS UP
If you are working with a dark space and limited natural light you have a few options. You can add a window looking out into a homely backyard to create a cosy atmosphere, you can knock out a wall to incorporate a dining area, put in a servery or remove an island bench, these are all ways you can open up your space to create a more inviting and open plan kitchen.
You can also create a brighter space by adding some well placed artificial lighting. Get creative and use antique bottles, funky pendants or stunning chandeliers. You can add lighting to island kicks, under cabinetry over island benches and in pantries.
4 improve STORAGE
If you remove dark, dated cabinetry and replace it with open shelves you will instantly modernise your kitchen. Open shelving creates a sense of space and if you use modern brackets you will keep your kitchen makeover fresh. Show off your collectables, antiques or add a personal touch to your open shelving to set the theme for your kitchen makeover.
Add some deep drawers, partitioned storage solutions and shelving to the ends of your island bench. If your kitchen is too dark and crowded, remove some of the overhead storage and add in an extended bench-line to incorporate additional under bench cupboards.
5 at least one indulgence
You may be on a budget, but we highly recommend including at least one big spend in your kitchen makeover. This could include:
