GO NATURAL

There may be many reasons you have decided to feature natural kitchen ideas in your new kitchen.  Natural materials portray a sense of calm and warmth and show that you are in touch with your surrounding environment.  The types of natural materials you select will also tell their own story.

OUTSIDE IN

Now that you have decided to take your kitchen back to nature you have so many options to work with.  Each natural material has its own unique benefits and sometimes a few considerations too.  Here are nine ways you can bring your outdoors indoors:

Wood
Wood can be used for cabinetry, bench tops and shelving.  It is a great way to gain that traditional or country look.

Bamboo

Bamboo is a durable material that can be used for flooring and other surfaces.

Marble
Marble is elegant and durable, it is often featured on bench tops, splash backs and walls.

Metals
Adding copper, stainless steel, brass, chrome, silver or gold to your kitchen can provide that perfect finishing touch.

Stone
Stone is a great way to incorporate a farm-style appeal into your kitchen or a provincial look.  It can be used as flooring, for feature walls and also around an open oven.

Brick
A brick wall in your kitchen will give it that real industrial look.  Brick can also feature in a lot of country kitchens.

Granite
Granite is very durable and if sealed properly it is resistant to spills.  If it is not sealed correctly it will absorb liquids as it is a very porous material.

Limestone
Limestone is a popular choice for the farm-style apron sinks.

Plants
Adding a plant wall to your kitchen design will take you back to nature on a different level.  your plant wall can feature useful herbs, plants with health benefits or simply be for show.

rECYCLE AND REUSE

We certainly don't recommend that you build your entire kitchen from recycled or reused items however, if you choose one or two features to incorporate into your new kitchen design you will definitely achieve that natural kitchen look.  You may choose to have a piece of recycled wood in your bench top, a plant wall, or a marble splash back.  What ever you choose it needs to tie in with your overall kitchen design.
